Dog-lifestyle company Dog is Good has launched a yearlong, on-line photo contest to promote the concept of “Dogvergnügen”. The word Dogvergnügen, created by the Dog is Good founders, is defined as “the unique joy you feel in the presence of Dog.” To spread that feeling and the rewards of being a pet owner, Dog is Good is engaging their Facebook friends to share Dogvergnügen through a single photo and caption which expresses the joy they personally feel in the presence of their dog.“Dogvergnügen is really the essence of our brand. Through apparel, gifts, and home decor ‘inspired by dog,’ our mission is to bring people the great feeling they have when they are with their dogs and to promote that dog-human connection, “said Gila Kurtz, Dog is Good co-founder and National Sales Director. “It’s only natural for people to want to share that emotion with others. So in addition to making products to satisfy that desire, the photo contest is a great opportunity. We invite everyone to enter the contest and share the Dogvergnügen!”

The first month of the contest, January 2013, a number of entrants successfully captured a winter Dogvergnügen theme, making celebrity judge Victoria Stilwell’s final decision rather difficult. The marketing and leadership team at Dog is Good narrowed down the field to 5 finalists and Victoria made the final choice. She selected Jenna Petardi and her Boston Terrier, Bella, for their photo “Winter Cuddle Buddies” (photo below).

Each month until October 2013, Dog is Good Facebook friends and followers may enter their contest-appropriate photo for a chance to win the monthly prizes and to be entered in the final round for top honors and the grand prize. The Dog is Good team selects the top 5 finalists and different celebrity judges choose the winning snapshot. Contest rules and details are available at www.facebook.com/dogisgood.
