One of our new employees recently found a lost puppy. The sweet little black pup had no identification that could possibly lead it back to its family. Lucky for the pup, his story ends well. His new family will provide a warm loving home and plenty of attention.
I shudder to think of what it would be like to lose my own dog, Henry. Fortunately, PetHub, a young company based out of Seattle, is on a mission to ensure that Henry and other pets will be returned quickly if they are lost.
To achieve their mission of getting pets home safely, PetHub utilizes QR codes for identification and scan notifications for GPS mapping- so an owner can determine where the dog was found and know where to go to get him. With smartphones becoming the norm and people being connected to the internet all the time, someone can scan the tag or go immediately to the PetHub website. In an instant, the pet’s multiple contact numbers, license and rabies tag info, critical medications, veterinarian, pet sitter, and more are available to help. The success rate is an astounding 97% with most animals returned home in less than a day. There is also an upgrade available to enable the owner to put out an “Amber Alert” style notification, known as the PetHub Community Alert. The missing pet’s profile is broadcast to shelters, pet stores, coffee shops, etc….based on where the pet was last seen. Most importantly, the owner can update the pet’s profile at no cost (a crucial feature for those who travel and need to update their present location).
I had the good fortune to personally connect with Lorien Clemens, marketing director “extraordinaire” and Tom Arnold, innovator and the brilliant mind behind PetHub. The hard work these dynamic entrepreneurs have put into building their business has not gone unnoticed. PetHub has been the recipient of (take a deep breath and get ready for this long list) Dog Fancy’s “Editors Choice” award, Seattle area’s “2013 Most Innovative New Product”, Pet Business’s “2012 Most Innovative” award, and Pet Age Magazine’s “Retailer Silver Select.” They were just featured in a segment on Fox News channel, and were heralded by Popular Mechanics as the tag “every dog owner needs to get”. Further, they were one of only a handful of companies to be awarded a “Lucky Card” from Petsmart in recognition of being an exciting new and innovative company.
The PetHub team is also fun and creative. Now through August 31st, fans can submit a video showcasing their summer adventure with their beloved dog(s) or other pets wearing any one of the fabulous PetHub tags. The winner will receive $500 plus a prize package. What are you waiting for? Get your PetHub tag ASAP, load up Fido for a great summer adventure, and send PetHub your best video….I’d say, there will be a lot of Dogvergnugen going on! Click here to enter the video contest.
