Located in beautiful Larimer Square in downtown Denver, Dog Savvy has become a destination stop for dog lovers. Dog Savvy is a specialty boutique and spa that offers products from the practical to the posh. In addition to the large selection of dog fashion, accessories, natural and organic foods, beds and gifts; they feature a professional dog spa offering services such a “pawdicures”, the “FURminator treatment” and Blueberry Facials.
Owner Robb Horen and his girlfriend Dana started out 10 years ago with Dana’s Doggy Daycare company- For The Love of Dog. When the time came to open a second daycare, Dana and Robb struggled to find a location as perfect as the first. But then, opportunity knocked; a shop in Larimer Square opened up and Dog Savvy was born! Today- seven years later, Dog Savvy is not only a Denver favorite but a must stop shop for dog lovers on yearly ski trips, conferences and vacations.
Over the last seven years Robb has noticed a shift in customer purchasing trends. When Dog Savvy first opened people were looking for modest, solid color nylon collars, non-descript beds and other practical products for dogs. Now, dog-loving humans are looking for cute, fashion-forward luxury products for their dogs and gift items for themselves. Vacationers also love to pick up gifts in the human sector for pet sitters watching their dogs while they are away.
Guests have come to expect fabulous customer service along with adorable products. The store is beautifully merchandised with unique products, laid out in a way that creates an easy to navigate, enjoyable shopping experience. Robb believes that the key to his continued success is Dog Savvy’s commitment to outstanding customer service, availability of unique and awesome products, and effective merchandising that displays products in ways that speak to pet lovers.
Dog Savvy began carrying Dog is Good five and a half years ago and is always bringing in new products as they become available. Robb was drawn to the Dog is Good line because of the clever sense of humor applied to quality products. He finds that Dog is Good moves something in people- they are touched by the clever and poignant sentiments and immediately want to wear it as well. Many customers seek out Dog is Good items as gifts for their dog-loving friends back home. Robb often sees customers laughing, smiling and making an instant connection when they are looking at Dog is Good products.
We commend Robb and Dana for their success in creating a loyal following of very happy customers!
