As every new puppy owner knows, some bags under the eyes come with the territory during those first few weeks of adapting to a new home. Bolo’s crate is in my room to keep her with the family and so I can hear her if she wakes up. Like a “new mom” I am on high alert, ready to whisk her to her “parking spot”. Staying up late and getting up earlier than my already crazy waking hour of 4:15 am will be par for the course until Bolo matures and we settle into a routine. Time with Bolo is reminiscent of those days when Abby was a baby. After training, a short walk, and play, Bolo settles in for a nap. It’s at that exact moment that I throw my hair back into a clip and focus on getting as much work done as possible before the little fur baby wakes up. Raising a puppy, Leader Dog or not, is serious business. I wish that everyone truly took to heart the commitment required to raise a healthy, well-mannered pup.
Bolo’s adventures at the office have been great fun for everyone. There is a lot of excitement and enthusiasm in adding Bolo to our DIG family. It is a team effort here at Dog is Good and everyone is participating in her training and socialization to ensure her success. Part of the process has been to “train all the humans” to make sure Bolo does not get any practice jumping. To my delight, everyone is fully on board-making sure Bolo sits before receiving any attention. They all help with mini training sessions throughout the day with this “polite greeting” process. Of course, Bolo loves every minute of it! Creating consistency in training can be challenging, but so far, everyone truly has this element nailed. Like I have said many times over- the team that works here at Dog is Good is truly the best!
Puppies have a unique charm and it is fascinating to watch how Bolo “pulls people in”. Everyone wants to connect with an adorable puppy. Since Bolo arrived on Tuesday this week, she has created some serious DV (Dogvergnügen) around the office. Dogvergnügen is that unique feeling one gets in the presence of dogs. More specifically, its how great you feel when you are with your dog and it can be really contagious. Suffice it to say, there is no shortage of love for little Bolo as we are all experiencing Dogvergnügen on an entirely new level.
